How it works

The tip is the bill multiplied by the tip percentage. The total is the bill plus the tip, and the per-person figures are the tip and the total divided equally by the number of people.

Bill $50, tip 18%, 2 people

Tip    50 × 0.18 = $9.00
Total  50 + 9    = $59.00
Each   59 ÷ 2    = $29.50

Use a preset of 10, 15, 18 or 20%, or type any percentage. The tip is worked out on the amount you enter, so type the pre-tax subtotal if you prefer to tip before tax. The split is always equal, and amounts are rounded to the cent, so the shares can add up to a cent more or less than the total.
