Random Name Picker

Paste a list of names and spin the wheel to pick a winner — or draw instantly without the animation. Great for classroom turns, giveaways, raffles and standup order. Optionally remove each winner so everyone gets picked exactly once. Runs entirely in your browser.

Examples

Input
24 student names
Output
One fair winner per spin, no repeats with remove-winner on

How it works

Put one name on each line; blank lines are ignored. The winner is chosen first, using the browser’s cryptographic random source, and the wheel is then animated to stop on that name. “Instant pick” gives the same kind of draw without the animation.

  • Every line has an equal chance, so a name entered twice has twice the chance.
  • With “Remove winner after pick” on, the winner is taken off the list, which gives everyone exactly one turn.
  • Spinning needs at least two names.

Long names are shortened to 16 characters on the wheel but shown in full as the winner. The list lives only on this page: it is not saved, so copy it somewhere if you want to reuse it.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — winners are chosen with the browser’s cryptographically secure random generator (crypto.getRandomValues), not a predictable pattern. Every name has an equal chance.

Yes. Enable “remove winner after pick” and each winner is taken off the list, so successive spins cover everyone exactly once.

No hard limit. The wheel stays readable up to a few dozen names; beyond that, instant pick works with thousands.
