GST Calculator

Calculate GST either way: add GST to a base price or extract GST from an inclusive price. Presets for the Indian GST slabs (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) with a CGST/SGST split, plus custom rates for Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and elsewhere.

Examples

Input
₹1,000 + 18% GST
Output
₹1,180 total (CGST ₹90 + SGST ₹90)
Input · 1180 ÷ 1.18
₹1,180 inclusive, remove 18%
Output
₹1,000 base (₹180 GST)

How it works

“Add GST” works from a base price: GST = base × rate ÷ 100. “Remove GST” works from an inclusive price: base = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100). Either way you see the base, the GST and the total.

Add: 1,000 at 18% → GST 180, total 1,180
         CGST 90 (9%) + SGST 90 (9%)
Remove: 1,180 at 18% → base 1,000, GST 180

The CGST and SGST lines split the GST in half, which is how a sale within one Indian state is taxed. For a sale between states the whole amount is IGST. The split is always displayed, so ignore it when you use the Australian, New Zealand or a custom rate.

Frequently asked questions

Divide the inclusive price by (1 + rate). For 18% GST: price ÷ 1.18 gives the base amount; the remainder is the GST.

For sales within an Indian state, GST is split equally between the centre (CGST) and the state (SGST) — 18% GST is 9% + 9%. Interstate sales charge the full amount as IGST instead.

India groups goods and services into 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% slabs (with some exempt or special-rated items). Check the official GST rate finder for your specific HSN code.
