Frequently asked questions

Code 128 for internal use, shipping and logistics (encodes any text). EAN-13 (worldwide) and UPC-A (US/Canada) for retail products. Code 39 only when older equipment requires it.

EAN-13 requires exactly 12 digits (the 13th check digit is computed) or 13 digits with a valid check digit. Letters and spaces are not allowed.

The barcode image is yours, but retail EAN/UPC numbers must be assigned to your company by GS1 to be unique in stores. For internal inventory, any number works.
