How it works
The slug is made in four steps: accents are stripped (é becomes e), everything is lowercased, any character that is not a letter, a digit, a space or a hyphen is removed, and the remaining words are joined with single hyphens.

Symbols are dropped, not spelled out, so & does not become “and”. Only Latin letters survive: a title written in Arabic, Cyrillic or Chinese characters produces an empty slug. The slug is not shortened, so trim long titles yourself.
